Sanjay Gandhi, MD, is Vice President and Head of Medical Affairs and Medical Strategy at Philips, leading global cross-functional teams in medical affairs, key opinion leader relationships, clinical education, and value-based healthcare. Based on emerging medical, clinical and technological trends, as well as the broader healthcare landscape, Sanjay’s Medical Strategy team informs Philips’ growth strategy ensuring its alignment with healthcare needs, opportunities, and values.
He is also the Chief Medical Officer (ad interim) of Philips’ EUR 1.2 billion Enterprise Informatics business. From cloud-based imaging with advanced visualization capabilities to virtual care solutions and an integrated medical record platform, Philips’ vendor-neutral informatics offerings give providers the operational and clinical foundation they need to deliver efficient and effective patient care
Sanjay is a member of the Philips Medical Office leadership team reporting to Chief Medical Officer Carla Goulart Peron. With over 20 years’ experience in interventional cardiology, medical education, clinical trials, service line operations, and hospital strategy, Sanjay is dedicated to driving innovation, enhancing patient and healthcare provider experiences, and providing better care for more people globally.
Sanjay continues to practice interventional cardiology as a part time faculty and Professor at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine (Cleveland, US). He is an active member of the Finance Committee and National Cardiovascular Data Registry Oversight Committee at the American College of Cardiology. He is also a member of the nucleus of the Cardiovascular Round Table – a steering committee that serves as a think tank for the European Society of Cardiology.
Sanjay joined Philips in 2022 as Senior Director Medical Strategy & Innovation before taking up his current role as Vice President Head of Medical Affairs and Medical Safety in 2023. Prior to joining Philips, he held senior roles at The Metro Health System in Cleveland (US), including responsibility for budget setting, clinical operations, quality programs, hospital strategy, business development and innovation.
Sanjay holds a Bachelor’s degrees in Medicine and Surgery from Maulana Azad Medical College (Delhi, India), qualifications in Cardiovascular Medicine and Internal Medicine from the University of Illinois Chicago (Chicago, US), Interventional Cardiology from Tufts-New England Medical Center (Boston, US), and Vascular Medicine and Intervention from Harvard Medical School – Massachusetts General Hospital (Boston US). He also has a Master of Business Administration (MBA) with high honors from the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor, US).
Outside work Sanjay enjoys spending time with his wife, two daughters and family and friends. He also takes time to work in his garden and enjoys long walks with his dog.
