Marcus Forst, from Avondale, Pennsylvania, is pursuing a Ph.D. in Applied Physics at Stanford’s School of Humanities and Sciences. A graduate of Temple University with a bachelor’s in physics, Marcus aspires to design advanced microscopes and medical tools.
In 2020, he collaborated with the Chan-Zuckerberg Biohub to create an open-source microscope to detect COVID-19 antibodies. As a Diamond Research Scholar, he studied novel electronic materials and interned at Friedrich Alexander Universität in Germany. Marcus was named Temple’s first Barry Goldwater Scholar, led the physics club, and excelled in music and sports, serving as principal trombone in the Philadelphia Youth Orchestra.
