Prof. Dr. Duygu Tosun-Turgut, PhD, is a Professor of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging and theFounding Director of Medical Imaging Informatics and Artificial Intelligence at the University of California, San Francisco. Dr. Tosun-Turgut earned her PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering from The Johns Hopkins University, followed by a Postdoctoral Fellowship in Neurology at the University of California, Los Angeles. Her research focuses on neuroimaging of neurodegenerative diseases and psychiatric disorders and aims to apply advanced imaging technology for discovery of multi-modal biomarkers to detect the progression of neurodegenerative pathologies before they cause irreversible damage to the brain. She aims to develop validated biomarkers of neurodegeneration that may be used for early diagnosis, initiation of prevention strategies in those at risk, monitoring of efficacy and regional specificity of therapies, and clinical trial enrichment. Dr. Tosun-Turgut has received numerous honors including the Academy for Radiology and Biomedical Imaging Research
Distinguished Investigator Award, de Leon Prize in Neuroimaging, and has received research funding from NIH, the California Department of Public Health, Department of Defense, Alzheimer’s Association, Michael J. Fox Foundation, and industry partners.
